Meet Morgan Ransom, the licensed mental health counselor (LMHC) who found a benefits package that fit her family and a way to focus on the work she does best
Morgan Ransom, MED, LMHC, has been running her own private practice since 2021, focused on intuitive eating and improving people’s relationship with food and their body. She enjoys the work, but as she entered a new chapter in her life, she was looking for more stability in her career.
“I was interested in getting a job with benefits, paid maternity leave, and really great health insurance,” she says. NOCD offered all three.
The benefits and support she was looking for
When Ransom first looked through NOCD’s benefits package, she was blown away by the options. She loved them so much and immediately she showed them to her husband.
“I showed the benefit options to my husband, and he printed it out and took it to his current employer to say that they needed something like this, because there were so many incredible options for individuals, families, and different levels of plan,” she says.
What stood out to the couple was the range of plans for individuals and families, including health and dental coverage. They chose the plan that worked best for them, which, in their case, also meant lowering their healthcare costs.
The excitement over the benefits didn’t stop there. NOCD’s paid maternity leave– offered for eligible employees after one year of service— was also a huge draw. As a parent of a small child, with a second on the way, Ransom values that NOCD supports families. “You can still work at NOCD and be a mom and have this time. That was a major draw to the role for me,” she says.
Competitive compensation, with room to earn more
Compensation is part of the picture, too. NOCD offers an incentives program aligned to organizational goals that allows therapists to increase their earnings.
“You’re able to add a little bit more to your bonus if you do choose that, but there’s no pressure to do so,” Ransom says.
For her and her family, that means extra earnings are an option she can take advantage of if and when she wants to.
Showing up to be a therapist
Having these benefits, plus a care team that fills her schedule and a billing team that supports her, lets Ransom focus on what she loves: showing up for her Members and being a therapist.
“I wanted to be a therapist, and NOCD allows me to be a good therapist,” she says. She loves connecting with Members, building trust, and setting goals they can reach in just a couple of months.
Beyond the operational support, Ransom feels supported by the people she works with. From her interview to her training to the management team above her, she says, “every person has just been so compassionate, so empathetic, so understanding. They don’t get in my way in terms of doing the work that I love to do, and I think they really trust in my therapeutic ability.”
Doing the work she loves
Asked what it’s like to work with Members, Ransom says it comes down to one word: fun. She came in with a strong background in OCD treatment, and she calls exposure and response prevention (ERP) a special kind of treatment. “There’s a lot of room for creativity and fun throughout our sessions as we’re designing exposures together,” she says.
She also sees what it means to Members. When someone has been misdiagnosed for a while, “it is such a relief to them to hear you have OCD and we know what to do.” She says she sees people get better quickly, and she credits her Members for choosing to show up and trust the approach.
“I love showing up to work every day,” she says. “It puts a smile on my face.” Asked for a word or phrase to sum up her experience at NOCD, she says “creative fun.”
